Hard water! Soft water has added salts to make it soft, and it just tastes icky. Hard water has good minerals for you.
Soft water may be better for your pipes and washing, but hard water is better for your body.
If the local hard water tastes terrible, though, get a filtration system like Brita -- that makes any water taste reasonably good.
