The baby was asleep in my arms, and the thought came to me that I had some holy water in one of my cupboards from days gone by, so I found it, dipped the tip of my finger into the jar and put a drop on the baby's forehead, and baptized her in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, amen. Her eyes came open right away and she started looking all around her. She's four weeks old. Her mother is 14 and unmarried, her parents are JW. She hasn't told anyone who the father is.
1) Is the baptism valid?
2) Does it really matter?
3) I am sneaky. Very sneaky. Was I sinning? I told no one but you who see this question. Maybe one day I'll tell. MUAHAHAHAHA!

Baptism requires immersion. Sprinkling is not baptism.

1. Baptism is only valid if the baptismal candidate can make a reasoned decision to become baptized, and if he or she has qualified to do so.

2. A person who disrespects the god-given provision of baptism is behaving in a blasphemous manner. Godly persons fear that this will displease their Creator.

3. It would seem that the questioner sinned against the parent of this child, since he seems to believe she would disapprove of his actions.

Baptism is an ordanance to be followed by believers after salvation. What good does wetting the head of a baby with "holy water" do ? God saves us by grace through faith in Jesus Christ not by a little water sprinkled on a infants head. That is unbiblical.

Only a person who accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior should be baptised. Your baby is much too young to be in position to make decision to accept Jesus. There is no spiritual significance except that the baby's head was made wet.

dipping your finger into some water then putting on a child's head is not baptism you have to go under in the water john the baptist did not put his finger in the water and touched our Lord on the head. you might christen the child the child has to be baptised when he or she is at an age of under standing of what it is all about then thy can make their own mind up.

If you remember that not one baby was ever baptized in the Bible because in order to qualify for baptism they first had to come to know Christ and God. Babies are to young to know the difference. So my answer would have to be no. And any one baptized as a baby needs to get to know God and his son Jesus Christ before they get baptized.

i believe that when you baptize a baby it really makes no difference in their eternal wellfare. a baby cannot make a public confession of faith, it just feels it's head getting wet. a baptizm is when you publicly say that you believe in Christ. the baby woke up because there was water on her head. wouldn't you?

It will be valid only if that child grows to love Christ ...... never heard of such a situation. How did it make you feel? I can only imagine, really

Baptism does not save you, but you already know that. Baptism is an outward sign of your inward faith, and nothing more.
