I think my upper wisdom teeth need to be removed. They are not growing straight down, instead they are poiting a little toward my cheeks. IF they do have to be removed, do the 2 wisdom teeth below need to be removed too?

Thanks.

I have to strongly disagree with some of the above opinions.
The upper wisdoms usually come out as you say, pointing outwards and backwards because there is no bone at the rear to impinge them. Most people have only a little annoyance from them, and often leave them in place. However, they are impossible to clean on the outside unless you are super-dedicated. Usually they will decay and crumble until you have pain and need to have them removed. They are easy extractions in 95% of cases - I could get my assistant to flick them out.
The bottom wisdoms are by far the more troublesome. They tend to get stuck (impacted) under either the gum or against the molars in front. Typically, when they first stick thru, many people have gum infections (pericoronitis) until they give up and have them extracted. Some people don't get gum problems, so they leave them in place. However, this time the decay will often occur where the wisdom touches the molar in front, this causing heaps of damage to the molar in front. So you might lose 2 teeth instead of just 1. Unfortunately, lower wisdoms are harder to remove because of the upward sloping bone behind them, and the molar in front getting in the way.
IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO REMOVE THE LOWER WISDOMS. So if you can, remove all 4 if there is ANY sign of impactions. If you wait for pain, you are going to make it harder for both you and the dentist.

If the uppers need to come out, most times the lowers don't NEED to come out, but even if THEY come in straight, they will have nothing to chew on and then theyll just sit back there, possibly getting decay or periodontial infections...

if they DON"T come in straight, there is a chance (small but still) that the unerupted wizzies could cause some kind of nutty cyst that could damage your jaw (ondontogenic keratocyst is one such example...)

There's also the idea (as mentioned above) that you "might as well" have four as well as two. This is assuming that you're well-insured of course....otherwise it's another 4-600 bucks for the second pair.

They told me to just have mine done 2 at a time but I went ahead and had all 4 removed. I knew that I was going to hurt afterward and I might as well just hurt once rather that twice. 3 of mine weren't bothering me but I had them all taken out.

No. I had my bottom two removed, but still have my top two. Though my best friend needed only two of hers removed and her dentist refused to just take out two so he took all four out. But hers was a lil more complicated I think due to her roots.

depends if you want to remove them or not, i have all my 4 wisdom teeth and i dont want them to be removed coz its part of my teeth. if it bothers you to have it then its your choice, it really takes a long time for it to grow fully. first it hurts when its still small especially when you chew things.

WISDOM TEETH DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE REMOVED. YOUR DENTIST KNOWS BEST HAVING SEEN THE X-RAYS AND KNOWING YOUR CASE.

No, but trust me if your going to be under the knife anyways you might as well get them all done at once so you don't run the risk of having to do it again later. Learn from my mistake.
