The answer you need to know is "holyfield". Forget the maybe's, politics, not recognized, and, all of the foolishness that has already done enough damage to "the sweet science". Ali was the man forever, his record was broken by Evander Holyfield. Idi Amin (a former African dictator), Lennox Lewis, The 7ft tall Russian Bigfoot, Hulk Hogan, Butterbean, those titles are "paper". No one cares about titles obtained via the WWF, Golden Gloves, Greater Ukraine, Lesser Russia, China Minor, Her Majesty's Royal Federation, Extreme Boxing, etc, etc. Ali was the first, Holyfield is the current. If Holyfield happens to pull off this comeback to regain the title again, I doubt if anyone will ever surpass his feat. Anyway, like the sport itself, no answer will ever be clear cut, except this one note, Pacman devoured El Terrible Morales last night.
