I'll bet that this is more like the answer you are looking for...
The A8 is a middle of the road for reliability. Not one of the bests, not one the worst either. Same for eclipses. The big difference is that Audi parts will cost twice as much as mitsubishi ones.
My Favorite places to get an informed decision are,
Consumer Reports and Edmunds.com. Check those out to get a broader opinion.

mechanical reliability is an illusion. cars are machines, and machines all break down. period. the higher the level of technology used in a vehicle and the more "gadgets" it has, the higher the probability it will have problems. here in the u.s the audi can be hard to find parts for and hard to find a competent mechanic who is willing to work on it. the mitsubishi is subject to the same problems to a lesser degree, although these factors can vary depending upon where you live. i realize this is an extremely generalized answer, but anyone who actually owns one of these vehicles will be prejudiced in their answer. simple human nature. the caveat here is that machines are also very individual, and the one you buy may provide you with a vastly different experience than anyone else has had. if brand and style is important, buy what you like and adjust to the results.

Both are good cars if they have been taken good care of. You can pay a few bucks and have them put on a machine that tells if any part is defective, also be sure they have not been in a bad wreck.

I come from an automotive city that thrives on domestic car companies. I think its horrible that you are asking about foreign cars. You should support the jobs of the big 3 (ford chrysler and general motors) these companies send money back to canada and the united states where the foreign companies do not.
So i would say they are both horrible cars!
Good luck!
