Here we are spending monies to keep immigrants out when New Orleans need both. ITS A CRYING shame that New Orleans is still in ruines and the government spends more monies and attention to a WALL. For those that spend their energies in useless arogance of immigrant bashing, send help to your fellow AMERICAN IN NEED IN NEW ORLEANS. It would be nice to have the minute man put up a wall around a house instead of just standing there wasting their time looking for immigrants.

i think it's pritty stupid. i know i lived in Texas & there were tons of mexicans that came over from Mexico. For the most part, they were all pritty good people. Working 2 to 3 jobs tryin to support their families back home. I know they take alll the money, no taxes & what not, but still .. it's not as bad as idiot Bush makes it out to be. I say spend money on other things, not a frickin wall.

The wall was a good idea but border security was lacking in numerous areas -- that was the problem! Yes, the companies that hire illegals should be punished. But the blame has to go to the illegals as well. There are MILLIONS of immigrants who came to this country "for a better life" that went through the NORMAL and LEGAL process. Was it easy for them? No but they still found a way to do so. Why can't illegals?????? ALL illegal immigrants (not just from Mexico) should be punished along side anybody who knowingly helps an illegal; this includes employers or renters, etc.

Do you understand how long it takes an area to recover from a hurricane? The World Trade center came down five years ago,and it took 3 years just to clean up that mess, and New Orleans was worse off then that, but they are now almost all reopened for business, and operating at this point and time. But to answer your first question YES it is a good idea. We have the most lax immagration policies in the world. Did you know that if you are found to be an the country of Mexico illegally it is a prison sentence of 10 years? And did you know that the country of Mexico is trying to keep illgal Aliens from entering their country from South America? Yes it's true South American's enter southern Mexico to find better paying jobs, and the Mexican government is trying to keep them out.

First of all its to be a fence ,not a wall. That being said its a waste of time for anyone that doesn't agree with you to answer this question. You are looking only for affirmation and an echo of your own beliefs, not an honest fact suppurated reply.Yes I do agree that the government needs to help the city and people of New Orleans. But allowing millions of illegal aliens into this country has nothing to do with Katrina. Our domestic problems need to be addressed ,but by having to try to keep the illegal invasion from over running our nation,we cant seem to get them done.I don't feel that any one that trys to stop an unlawful act(and it is against the law) is not wasting their time.I fully support the Border Patrol and the Minute Men ,they are doing a difficult thankless job for American citizens.

The hordes of Mexicans who are violating the borders of our ( not yours, OUR ) country are not "immigrants", they are invaders. A strong wall is an appropriate response to this ongoing infringement of our sovereignty.

All that crap about New Orleans is just a red herring you're throwing out to confuse the issue. The only real interest Mexicans have in New Orleans is in using it's misfortune as an opportunity to set up yet another Mexican colony in our country......

I love New Orleans, if a wall is man made it can be taken down. immigration is an important issue, because there are limited resources, but resources were not utilised to their full potential re: New Orleans, remember it was a hugh natural disaster, the issue of immigration is hugh as everyone has experiences of its effects, and the government has the most unenviable task of directing resources to the best that they can.

The wall/fence is a fantastic idea and I agree with Carl the greenskeeper 100%! Build that wall/fence ASAP!! The wall/fence won't completely keep them out but that combined with enforcing ALL the immigration laws will go a long way to reducing the number of illegals in the country.

Yes, it is a good idea. They should come here legally. I am not against immigrants coming here, but I am tired of my tax dollars spent to pay the medical bills for these people. Our own citizens don't get free medical care. Plus some of them now want to change everything here to suit them. They don't want to learn English---they think WE should learn Spanish!

My grandparents came here legally, learned English and conformed to the American way of life. If people don't like the way we do things, they should stay in their own country.

And no, I am not prejudiced against the Mexicans! My neighbor next door came from Mexico many years ago. She learned English, and became an American citizen. She is just as appalled as I am that so many are now receiving benefits that they don't deserve.

I believe the formal term is "City Wall," pronouced SHH-II-TEE WAW.

I think a City Wall should be constructed to keep Californians and Texans out of Mexico. It is already pretty messed up, the last thing they need to make it more crummy is more Americans.

What a load of poop. Not only should a wall be constructed along the border, anyone approaching that wall should be shot on sight. Illegals are just that: CRIMINALS, and should be treated as such.
