Is this catty or truth?

Question

I met an acquaintence of my moms for the first time and all she had to say to me was "whoa your mom is way better looking than you!" Now is this a rude, catty remark or does someone say something that rude as truth?

Also I met one of my mom's friends and he said "you are disgusting looking!" Now does a grown man say something so rude to someone?

I do not understand?

they are both employees of my moms. the male tried to steal a lot of money from my mom comes to find out.

I do not think I am ugly (but yes I do have my days of feeling ugly, you know what I mean) but I do not think I am gorgeous either. People use to ask me to model for them a lot, maybe my look is just different.

No I was being introduced to the male and that was the first sentence out of his mouth. The female I just walked in the office and she looked at me and made the comment, no introduction or anything.

Evidently these people have no manners what so ever... I mean that is just wrong...I don't know what you look like but for anyone to say something like that when they first met you...What does your Mom say? Does she know? It is possibly they are just joking because I can't believe that they would say this if it was really true. I would talk to your mom about it...and if it keeps on..ask them what their problem is?

Sometimes things might be truth (im not saying it is) but people are rude! I think its just that there parents have never thought them tact! It seems that's what the problem is. They have no tact and I was always tought that old saying....If you don't have something nice to say......Don't say anything at all! Well these people must come from a place where that doesn't apply! Your mother also needs to truly think about if these people are truly her friends if they could say something so mean & hurtful to her own child!

I am a very straight forward and brash person but I am not rude (for the most part) I probly would have told them to look in the mirror before they start to talk about other people. And most importantly that they should never judge a book by its cover because you might just be the best diamond ever...your just still in the rough!

Omg, no this is not the run of the mill, without running the risk of insulting you, what did your mother have to say about this? It sounds to me as if your mother needs bolstering by superficial friendships. If a friend of mine was to pass such a cruel comment about one of my children, they would be out that door so fast there would be scortch marks on the floor. How dare they. It sounds as if the relationship between your mother and you is not a close one, and that isn't necessarily your fault. So if it is bringing you negativity, and you are mature enough in age, try distancing yourself slowly and building your own friendships. Somethings in life, it pays to just write them off, mother or not, all the best.

... your mom NEEDS to make better friends because that sh*t is downright RUDE. You don't say those things to somebody unless you have a personal vendetta against them!

HOWEVER, are they American? If they're of another culture, then it depends on that culture whether it's rude or not. For example, you can be called "fat" or "chubby" in Latin America, and apparently, it's not taken in an offensive way. Similarly, if you're Asian, my relatives can say, "Oh, you lost weight" and rude things like that. *shrugs* Perspective... then again, neither of the remarks you mentioned sound like they can be construed as anything BUT offensive.

dude, it is so no longer real... My aunt and considered one of my very close stable acquaintances are the two cancers. Kindest and least pretend human beings one ought to fulfill. My aunt is the sweetest and least judging individual u can locate and my pal is a real pal.
