Do you know any herbs or medicines that relieves people suffering from overly producing adrenaline on their body?

I am not talking about using the anti-depressents like the SSRI or MAOI, or any kind of meds using the brain chemicals to "cover up" the anxious feelings.

I want to know if there is any herbs or meds that directly decrease or cure the overly producing adrenaline in the body.

thank you.

There are medications called "beta blockers" that act against adrenaline. There are many available out there; talk to your physician.

They work by blocking one kind of "receptor" that adrenaline molecules normally plug into. When adrenaline plugs into these receptors, this is when you get the effects that you don't enjoy - racing heart, sweating, nausea, etc.

Side effects are obviously the opposite of having too much adrenaline; they include sleepiness and hypotension (low blood pressure). The key is for you and your physician to find the right dose, if you choose this method.

As far as herbal remedies are concerned, there are a few out there, but there is no way to control exactly how much of the herb (in terms of potency) that you're taking, and the herb might also contain other ingredients that could be detrimental to your health.

One of the herbal remedies that has enjoyed popularity recently is valerian root, available in powder/gelcap and tea form. Most nutrition stores stock the gelcap, the tea form is much harder to find. Some people find that only the tea form is effective. Most people find valerian to be pretty safe, but too much can make you drowsy.

Preliminary research has shown that the active ingredients in valerian act very similarly to some anti-epilepsy medications (such as Neurontin) and in slight similarity to the "benzodiazepines" (such as Valium). Again, remember that valerian, just like any pill your doctor prescribes you, is in fact a drug.

For those people who feel the need to respond to George W. Bush's posting: please note the little flag right next to the 'thumb down' icon. It can be used to report a user to the Yahoo Answers moderator. It's more efficient than a gazillion thumbs down.
