kein Mann bist du
When you place the object at the beginning of the sentence, in german, youre putting emphasis on it.

"However, German often prefers to begin a sentence with something other than the subject, usually for emphasis or for stylistic reasons"

"Du bist kein Mann".
But it would be more hurtful if he said: "Du bist kein Mensch", as that would be dismissing the soldier as not being a human being.
