cutting it at an angle so it "feathers"...like Farrah Faucett's did in the 70's.
Layering also makes hair seem thicker/fuller.

Layering is a technique used to remove weight from hair (thicker hair) so that the hair does not overwhelm delicate features or a persons smaller frame. It adds shape, swing and bounce to cuts. There are two major kinds in the styling industry the 180 degree cut which is also known as long layers, you see them on jessica simpson and many other starlets. It creates a more interesting silhouette than big pryamid shaped curly hair or straight witchy grown out hair. There is also the 90 degree cut which is the same length all over and many people mistakenly associate badly layered cuts with a mullet. Not true. There are many styles of layered cuts out there which are very flattering.

Layering means cutting the hair wear it is longer on the bottom and gradually gets shorter, but not more than 4 inches different from the crown to the nape. Not like a mullet. That is the ugliest Avatar I have ever seen. It needs layers.
