This is definately not a good idea. I'm not a fan of XP, but going back to 98 would be a very bad idea. 98 is no longer supported, there is very little chance of getting patches for it to make it more secure and it is still very insecure by todays standards. Running a modern version of MS Office will be completely impossible as it requires at least Windows 2K and Office 2007 I believe needs Windows XP.

If you really want WIN98, go buy a used computer, possibly a lease return, with WIN98 configured already.I did that with a used Dell, original price new was about $2500, I paid $200 for it used. Do not put Win 98 on your XP machine unless you get a techie friend to partition your drive, so you can keep the XP, the more modern system, as well as have 98.

XP is much better and user friendly than 98, so it's better not to change.
Have you heard about the latest operating system, Windows Vista?

Its a bad idea to go to Windows 98, Microsoft no longer supports it and a lot of companies aren't making software that will run on it.
