Haha, I love this question, and I have a feeling I'm going to love some of these answers as well. I, being an indepenent deist, am not eligible to actually answer your question. However, I'll have you know that most of the Christians on Y!A are going to say they care more about helping the poor. Then why do they insist on protesting gay marriage before even considering doing volunteer work? Trust me, the debate concerning homosexuals is much more discussed than deciding which charity to donate to. Actions speak louder than words, friend.

Helping the poor is very important. This is an issue that is totally unrelated to a Christian's position on Gay Marriage so it is difficult to say one is more important than the other. But if I had to actively participate in the success of one and not the other, I would choose to help to poor.

I can't believe so many people actually said banning gay marriage was more important. This proves how twisted our sense of morality has become. This is not at all what Jesus intended, and Jesus HImself didn't even say anything about homosexuality being wrong. All that was written by men who didn't even know Jesus. Jesus wanted us to love our neighbours and be kind to our fellow man. Some people work hard all their lives and have nothing to show for it, and it's not their fault. These people need our compassion and our help. Any so called Christian who doesn't understand this concept needs to get a red letter Bible and re-read what Jesus Himself said.

I think helping the poor is more important.
My personal view on gay marriage is this:
John and Sam or Jane and Judy can do whatever they please in their own home as long as I do not have to see it or hear it. They should have the same rights as we do. It should not be our business at all unless of course they advertise and make it our business. People say that it is wrong and they will answer for it in the end. But the Bible also says we shouldn't judge others.
I personally would spend more time and money helping the poor than millions of advertising and protesting for banning gay marriage.

i would have to go with helping the poor, people who are gay and wanna get married, does not really hurt anyone now does it?? i seriously dont see a problem with gays and lesbians getting married, and if it is a sin then let them deal with god when there time comes ,,,,what does it matter to u if they are frowned uponed (that is if god actually even cares). if christians are so against gay marriages, because that isnt how god intended it to be then why do u see christians that dye there hair or pearce there ears,u werent born that way so why would u chang how god made u? i mean if u think about it god made adam and eve, back then and they reproduced, how do we know that God didnt feel like the world was over populating so he decided to make people who prefer the same sex, this way there isnt a way to reproduce.? i geuss what i am trying to get at is i think compairing a poor person to a gay that wants to get married, is like compairing a 10000.00 to a cent, obviously one topic out ways the other when it comes to importance

I think it is hilarious that so many Christians say to focus on the teachings of Jesus and yet they say both are equally important or some say gay marriage.
What verses contain Jesus' rant about gay marriage?? Was it between the parts about not judging people and loving thy neighbor???

Helping the poor and yes banning the gay marriage because poverty kills and I don't even want to talk about these g people, they are sick because it has always been BARBIE-KEN NOT BARBIE-BARBIE OR KEN-KEN.The poor don't know where they will get their next food from.Think about it like 12 and 13 year olds becoming mothers before marriage man where are you guys going? What are you teaching your next generation?

Banning Gay marriage.. lol jk helping the poor would be the proper answer,... but fawk that...marriage is a religious sanctification, not a product of our civil institution, although recognized by it, it is still a symbol and a term strictly to mean the religiously approved union of a man and a woman. no exceptions. Gays can come up with their own sht. maybe Garriage, or Cheek-to-Cheek Union, something. But they should not cross over and muddy up a Christian Institution such as Marriage.

we can speak out against gay marriage the term is a contradiction in terms marraige is about a man and woman coming together as one in Gods eyes. if gays wont to have a contract ok but it can not be marraige. as for feeding the hungry many christians are helping with that also we can not solve all world problems.
