No. They are too busy making war on homosexuals. They spent $20 million on it last year with no DOM's on the ballot. Just imagine what they've spent this year.

“Do Christians in America do enough to fight poverty?” Some do, some don't. Do non-Christians do enough to fight poverty? The answer is the same.
"We have more wealthy Christians than ever before, yet poverty is still a problem. Why haven't we solved it yet?"
Wealth alone does not solve poverty, poverty is more than money it is a culture all its own. People can overcome poverty with a little help but it takes a desire to succeed to make it actually work. Not dropping out of school, no having babies at age 16, working hard, staying away from drugs, all these things must be done to break the cycle of poverty. Not everyone can be a Rockefeller but no one is forced to stay in poverty either.
Okay back to the Christian aspect of this topic.
It is very difficult to "paint all Christians with the same brush" there are solid Christians, nominal Christians, deceived Christians, and fake Christians. The way to know a true Christian is the way the scriptures say "by their fruits".
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Also the fruits of our Labor are souls we reach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You have to remember there is no command in the scripture for us to "fight poverty". Christians are to help each other when in need but there is not the same command to help the unsaved just for the sake of fighting poverty. Christians help non-Christians in hopes of starting a dialog in which we may share the Gospel of Jesus and plant the seed for God to save the Soul. Saving the person from poverty is a kind act and it is important. What is much more important is sharing the Gospel so the Soul may be saved. The help someone on earth live more comfortably is nice but if you let that soul go to Hell what have you really accomplished ? The great Commission is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the masses that is the responsibility of all Christians.

Jesus said in the Bible that we would always have the poor here with us. I'll bet if there were a ratio of Christians fighting poverty and other wealthy Americans fighting poverty, the Christians would win. Hands down. May God Bless

Brains too the extreme. People in America do a lot to "fight" poverty, the problem is that most of those who live in poverty don't do enough or aren't willing to fight at all, in order to get themselves out of poverty. Throwing money at a problem doesn't fix it.
Think about all the time, money and effort you've spent keeping Your roots blonde. Now tell me, are Natural Blondes in America doing enough to fight the problems facing those "other blondes" who struggle day in and day out, just to maintain the bare essential color consistency in this cruel blonde and brainy world.

they do it all. at least as far as charitable giving is concerned. some think that this responsibility should fall on the government and many politicians are quite willing to support a large population of poor in order to trade food for votes through their robin hood techniques. but this does not eliminate poverty, it accommodates it.
there are few truly poor left in the US by world wide standards. these days poor means no cable TV. but hunger is rare.

It's a matter of organization, which with humans involved makes for many things to go wrong: (greed, lust, stealing, etc).
The people know this and being rightfully cautious do not just give money to be wasted. Also all humans hoard for their own future, their children, their legacy. Being waelthy is also a burden in itself, for people assume the money is there to use now, just work on them, guilt them into donating. People work for what they have - and can give as they want, I can not tell others what to give.
Remove corruption, and other human vices - and the money will pour in like rain. Trucks full of it, because people will know it all will be used CORRECTLY.

Brains too.I say you have neither,I was born in poverty, all of my deceased family, had no burial insurance my mom, dad, 2 sisters,3 brothers not one has a headstone. I have wrapped my babies in trash bags to keep them alive when our heat was shut off.I thank God we are not in a torture camp, in the war zones.etc,
What is Your point???? We are Christians, many of us homeless
but I assure You,if any member of my family all the way down to the little grandchildren ,had two slices of bread and you were hungry they are Yours.I saw my two year old granddaughter give
a child she did not know her only piece of pizza, gave it smiled, walked away.I thank God for that. Can You get off the rich bandwagon,We are rich, we are blessed with love, and hearts.

Considering the Christian types in the government who are "ruling" in the time that other people are having it harder, no.
Some people find things like upcoming holiday greeting words to be more important to focus on and bicker over...
