Brief background: about 5 years ago experienced random episodes of a spacey depersonalized feeling that made me feel irritated and snappy, along with a severe problem with focusing or concentrating. I went to my doc and he prescribed me Effexor XR. My dose never went past 75mg. And as of the last 2.5 years I have got it down to dividing my 37.5 into thirds. I have wained myself down because I do not have depression at all, im very content, and my anxiety is not any more than average. I did not want to be on a med forever if i did not have a concrete reason as to why I should be on it.

Main issue: I know that effexor works on serotonin at the doses i am on... Straterra is known to work on norepinepherine, thus the reason it didnt curb the irritated spacey feeling i have... I am at my witts end here with this damn annoying feeling, its not debilitating just bad if it happens at work, and my girlfriend is not a fan and i dont blame her.

Does anyone else feel like this? please help.

When you say depersonalized, do you mean a sense of detachment from your self? Like as if you're watching your own life? If yes, then I feel like this quite often.

If it's possible, I would suggest getting a second opinion (in regards to your initial condition) by a certified practitioner before you (1) attempt to wean from the meds and (2) attempt a self-diagnosis.

Yeah, I can sympothize with you. I was on Paxil for about two years and came off of it about 1 and a half years ago. I went through alot of those same feelings. The diffrence is though that my symptoms of anxiety have come back quite badly. As far as all the withdrawel symptoms are concerned..they do eventually go away just give it a few months. I hear that Paxil and Effexor are farely similar so I speak from the Paxil point of veiw. I am so pissed off with drugs because of the way I am now, but i am standing strong at not taking anymore drugs and am hoping and praying that my terrible anxiety will cure on its own through time. Bottom line, brain meds really suck dont they...Goodluck

Go back to your doctor, or find a different doctor. Medications like these should not be handled without the supervision of a doctor, since they affect the brain through hormone regulation. I don't know much about the effect of the drugs, as I refused to take any. (I suffer from minor depression that does not hinder my life.) I am not a doctor, so I can't really give any advice. Except to go back to your doctor. Really, they are the best people to help you with this. Best wishes and take care.
