According to most Christians and the Bible, God loves all "his children" equally, right? And supposedly, all people and animals are "his children"? Well, doesn't this mean that he loves his children who are homosexuals as well as heterosexuals. Because homosexuals do not choose to be so, they are not "defying" him. So why do people who follow the bible so closely seem to think that homosexuals should be killed and are evil and whatever else? I am atheist/agnostic, and I have never understood this.

ok, people. a lot of you have said 'god loves the sinner, hates the sin". how is being homosexual a sin, when you don't have a choice? To do something wrong (sin) don't you have to be able to choose to do a wrong?

This is an open ended question with no real answer, but i'll give it a try.

Different branches of Christianity interpret the Bible differently.
There are millions who view homosexuality is deplorable and somehting that should be wiped off the face of the earth. At the same time, there are millions who think that sexuality is wrong but it is up to God to judge another person so they live knowing that God will deal with homosexuals, whether through punishment, forgiveness, acceptance, whatever.

THEN there are Christians who are fine with homosexuals again because they follow the bible's message of love and forgiveness and so on.

I'm sure I'm missing about twelve hundred other approaches but that is it in a nutshell.

The bible is interpreted differently by many people.

Much like muslims may have very differing opinions on the use of violence and terrorism. I'm sure some find it to be ok and some don't.

I do not know enough about the bible and Christianity to answer this question. I think some where it says it is a sin to lay down with another man. It has something to do with the fact that they can not reproduce, going against gods great plan or whatever. My take on the bible is that its allot like the constitution and they get to change it to suit there needs everything is so general and open for modification it's pretty ridiculous. I think its pretty sad that a fictional book written 2000 years ago still has the power to oppress so many people Jews, Gays, Women ,pretty much anyone who is not a straight white male. but who knows the world is changing and the gay people will have their revolution soon enough, unless the Christians completely take over the world.

Even with the fact that animals have been noted to perform homosexual acts at times, and with more indications that basic sexual orientation is a matter of genetics, still you listen to the bible waivers go on about it being an "unnatural act". Of course, it must be unnatural, because if it were shown to happen as a part of natural processes, then that points the finger right back at who created all things natural.

Meanwhile, all those out there who are godly but forget the fact that they aren't God, have to sit in judgment over everyone, and find all but themselves lacking. What a mockery of the gentle religion started by Jesus, "Do unto others as ye would have others do unto you", and "Love thy neighbor as ye love thyself", the Golden Rule and core of the teachings, has been thrown away and cast aside for the new Phrasees and Saducees to sit in judgment. No wonder Christianity has been lacking respect, since people seem to instinctively know that the church has become the "Whore of Babylon".

What should have been that which transforms the world, has sold itself to Cesar, and become his bedmate, dancing to the tunes played by those in power. Anything to perform what Machiavelli, in The Prince, called "Divide and Rule".

God does love all of us equally. Animals are not children of God. He did create them, but I have never read He considered them His children. God does love homsexual people as well as heterosexual people. What God hates is the sin of homosexuality. You can love the person and hate the sin they are involved in. No true child of God hates any person. Notice I said "true". I am sorry to inform you that we all choose the sins we want to participate in. Homosexuals are not 'born' that way, contrary to some belief. And when people choose to be homosexual, they are defying God. Being homosexual is no more of a struggle than fornicating, killing someone, or gossiping. Yes the urge is there but they must pray and ask God for deliverance. That is like someone who has killed someone saying that they were born to kill. It is just not so. No true child of God thinks that anyone should be killed for their sins. If Christians are in the business of killing people for their sins, then no one would be left on earth. May God Bless.

First of all, God doesn't HATE homosexuals...He hates their sin, just like how He hates all sin. Is it the homosexuality that is going to send them to Hell? Or is it the fact that they are living a sinful life for themselves and not for God. The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination, in fact...that's part of the reason that Sodom and Gomorrah were killed. I DO NOT believe that homosexuals are evil or should be killed...I don't think that at all.

I also don't believe that homosexuals are born homosexuals. It's simply not natural...and how does this explain the homosexuals who have become Christian and have turned from their ways?

Homosexuality is simply a sin...just like every other sin. God looks at all sin the same. I am no better than a homosexual or a thief. The only thing that separates me from them is the fact that I have applied the blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God DOES accept anyone and everyone into His Kingdom. People seem to forget that the Bible does not put homosexuality above all other sins. There are murderers and rapists and drug dealers out there who do not practice homosexuality. Does that make them better people than gays? Premarital sex is wrong in the eyes of God, and homosexuality is as much a choice as premarital sex is. A person can be gay and choose not to have sex, just like a hetero can choose not to have sex.
I think that people need to stop making themselves out to be victims. I'm not a victim just because I'm a minority, or a Democrat, or short, or poor. We (as a society) need to stop looking for ways to victimize ourselves. God laid the rules out plain and simple in the Bible. Read this for yourself instead of listening to other people telling you what God supposedly said. I know you're not a Christian, but if you want answers about Christianity, you should go to the source yourself. No one can fault you for seeking answers, unless they are afraid that the answers you find will affect their way of life.

God does not hate anyone. It is SIN He does not approve of.

All the same scriptsures that are used to say it is wrong are the same ones that are used to say it doesn't say that at all...
Along with your view, for myself at a young age came up with this...
God is love, right? A child is a gift from god, right? 2 people love one another, no matter the race or gender, right? So, what makes it wrong? As the bible states, he who has no sins cast the first stone... He is the only one to say, and you don't know.

You are assuming something that few Christians will agree with, that homosexuality is natural. I don’t think that homosexuality is a product of nature. I think it comes from nurture, or lack of it. It may not be a choice, but it is certainly created AFTER birth. That’s my opinion. So yes, God does love the homosexual. But he does not like that the homosexual gives into his/her desires. We are all blessed with various temptations. For some it is anger. For others it is alcohol. Still others it is the desire to be with someone of the same sex. We must stand firm and fight our temptations. ALL SIN is rooted in that fact… Sin is simply, “failure to take control of your impulses.” And that is why homosexuality to God is equivalent to murder. The final result of murder is of course worse than from homosexual acts, but both have the same simple thing in common… they are both “failure to control impulses.”

God is love.
