I'm hideously shy and can never get up the nerve to approach a girl. Whenever I do, I always seem to come across as really awkward. What can I do? Is there any way I could use this to my advantage? I could really use some suggestions!

If you feel awkward, you could tell the girl you approach you feel uncomfortable about it with something like, "I usually don't do this but....". I'm sure you've practiced what you wanted to say and you stumble on your words, but just warm up with small talk. It's best to be honest, though.

OK do not feel bad I WAS the same way. Think of what makes you the person that you are. What do you feel good about when you look at yourself in a mirror? These things will help you build self confidence and someone who truly cares about you will accept that. Hope this helps, it did for me.

Just go somewhere like the library to pick up on someone, you cant talk much in there anyway. its kind of cute when the guy goes up to you and hes shy, it makes the girl feel less freaked, as if he's so shy but he thought i was worth building up all the courage to talk to me.

Hi Seamus, First thing you need to come out of your shell.Learn to relax and be yourself around girls. They are not going to bite you. Ask her something you know she is interested in and go from there. The main thing is to relax and be yourself.Girls don't like guys who put on an act.

Can you get some more experience in your daily life interacting with women for example in your job just an practice? Or maybe a second job/part time where you'd have to talk to women for practice?

You can be sweet and sensitive to a girl and help her without being creepy or weird. Chicks dig that. Just walk up to her and say hi and offer to buy a drink or help them with the door. Try to be a FRIEND first.

Take some classes that will boost your confidence. A speech class would be great. Get comfortable talking to all kinds of people and then let that translate to talking to women.

Come on...get up and fix your style, i think you have to find what is your strong side...if you smart in the class use it to approach a girl or , if you are good in music, use it! play some music instrument in the party!

Your advantage is that you are shy. It is not something to change or overcome, but accept.
Be your self. Be honest. Cool girls- real girls- love that.

The same way you get over any fear. Keep doing it, over and over and over. If you're serious about getting over your shyness, just go to a mall and force yourself to talk to every woman you see. I know of guys who have done this, and it worked for them.
