Be honest with him. Tell him that you just see him as a friend and you just don't feel the same. Tell him he is a nice guy and bring his self-esteem up and say that there will be someone else who likes him for who he is. (Kinda even out the "rejection.") You just don't feel the same way.

Well i think the first thing you should ask yourself is why you don't want to go out with them? Are you being shallow and not interested because he doesn't have any money or is not as pretty as you would like? Then about all you can do is say no thanks and that's that. If he isn't your type then just tell them. The worst thing you can do it make up a stupid excuse - you have to wash your hair or clean house or whatever. That's pathetic and insulting. For the most part I've always appreciated a girl who was honest but not rude.

The easy way out is to tell them you are seeing or interested in someone else... then say "I know you understand" what can they say back to you... but.... yeah I do...
You can always let em know that if you were to ever be available you may look them up... but make it clear your not looking...

"Sorry, I'm not interested in you." Straightforward may seem mean, but it's really the nicest way to handle it because it leaves no doubt in the person's mind. It's much crueler to be indirect and ambiguous.

If you know they are hitting on you, then just tell them they are not your type or your are not looking to get involved. It is better to tell them than to lead them on or having them think they have a chance when they don't. Honesty is the best in this situation.

If you're afraid of how they may take it, then say that you're not interested in dating anyone right now. Don't tell them that you're not interested in them specifically.
