I frequently see reference to Christians as if there were something disturbingly unpleasant about them.

Well there is. They're trying to take over my country.

It is the Bible-thumping fanatics who try to force their religouis beliefs down peoples throats that give true Christians a bad name. Those are the people who are regarded as "those Christians" or "the Christians."

I'm a Christian, but I definitely do not try to force my beliefs on people. If anybody asks what Church I go to I'll tell them and if they want to know the beliefs are I'll tell them those, but will stop if they start showing disinterest or changes the subject. I will respect that. The fanatics that I stated before have no respect for others and will preach and preach and preach until they are blue in the face or until you walk or run away from them.

When I read through these questions on r&s I will pick very carefully what I answer. I want to make sure that I know the answer and can answer it simply and in as few words as I can. I don't want to preach. I mean this IS an question and answer format. Not a place to preach or put long cut and paste answers. And of course I'm starting to ramble, so I'm sorry about that. It's 12:41am and I'm tired. Good Night everybody.

Some people generalize and stereotype.

Having said that, there is indeed something disturbingly unpleasant about *a portion of* all religions responding here.

(Haven't you noticed some of the hateful responses coming from all different sectors?)

You are correct - there are some Christians who definitely qualify as disturbingly unpleasant.

To be fair, not all Christians fit this bill. However, some do.

We probably are disturbingly unpleasant to them and that is why they refer to us that way. I count it all joy because if they liked us then that would probably mean we would need to reevaluate our salvation. Jesus said that they would hate us to because they hated Him when He walked the earth. So don't think it strange that they hate us as well. May God Bless

because many non believers encounter christians that are hypocrites or i ntolerant towardsothers beliefs and opinions because its not "christian like". and it doesnt help that the christians belive that everyone except christians are going to burn in hell forever just because nonbelievers dont believe that jesus as thier lord and savior....they also like to impose thier religion on you and try to "save" you and thats great and all but we dont care because #1 we dont believe in your religion. #2 it gets annoying. also many believe that without god the pagans and nonbelievers must be bad people becase we have no higher morals. if you ask me thats really offensive.

oh and the whole christians believing that thier persectuted...CMON! if you live in america, how much more christian can you get??? i see like 2-3 churches on the same street in my area! and the christians just as equally call other people "those athiests" or "the athiests". or how bout "those muslims" or "the muslims"? "the buddhists" "those buddhists" isnt that considering them as unpleasent as well?

Well if you think there is something disturbing about Jesus Christ, thus the title Christians...then there you go. My advise is to look into it more before making a judgement.

I think it's because it's the dominant religion and tends to preach to and chastise the non Christian segment of the Yahoo community.
