It's ttly OK to eat your pumpkin. I'm not sure if those little colorful ones are edible but i know the big orange one are. Don't eat the skin because they put chemicals on it so it doens't rot. You can eat the inside though. It doesn't taste very good though unless you make pie or something out of it. What I highlt recommend though is toasting the seeds and eating them, so good! ( don't eat the shells though).

As long as the pumpkin is still a good orange color and not mushy in spots, it would be fine to eat. Pumpkin is related to the squash family and can be cooked in much the same ways. It's delicious made in to pumpkin pie or preserves but can be used as a vegetable side dish. I haven't heard of any type of pumpkin that's not edible but if you're not sure stick with the traditional halloween type pumpkin. If you're looking for particular recipes, just do a simple web search. There are lots of recipes out there.

It will be ok if you didn't cut it and burn a candle inside.
The big jack-o-lanterns are just a little more tough and fibrous than the small sugar pumpkins and that's why small ones are preferred for pies.
But you can still bake the big ones by cutting them in half, removing the seeds and fibers, and baking them until they are soft, and then scooping out the flesh with a spoon.
If it is too watery, just cook it in a pan until it thickens up.
You could also run it through a blender or food processor to smooth out the texture.
The stuff freezes nicely. I freeze mine in 2-cup amounts in a small ziplock bag.
