baking soda and salt mixture. The baking soda helps with the odor from the bacteria and the salt acts as a debriding agent to gently scrub the dentures while it disolves.

For plastic dentures (no metal parts), then Milton's Solution (or a 1 in 10 bleach in water solution) is a good disinfectant. Give it about an hour. Using a bleach solution on metal will cause a blackish tarnish - unattractive but not harmful.
To loosen off the tartar buildup, soak them in a 50:50 solution of white vinegar (acetic acid) and water overnight. This will soften up the tartar and make it easier to remove.

The 2 I use are 1) 1/4 part bleach and 1/2 part hot water solution and 2) 1/2 part baking soda and 1/2 part warm water solution. Let the dentures soak overnight in either and brush them vigorously the next day with clear, warm water. (With the bleach you need to final rinse well with milk to get the taste out. ) If you need a quicky cleaning, use baking soda and a few teaspoons of water with a heavy brushing, then rinse well.

A SAFE PRODUCT TO USE IS BAKING SODA AND SALT MADE INTO A PASTE WITH WHICH TO THOROUGHLY BRUSH THE DENTURES.
DO NOT USE ANY BLEACH SOLUTION AS BLEACH WEAKENS THE BONDS OF THE DENTURE BASE TO THE TEETH.
BLEACH ALSO LEACHES INTO THE PLASTIC AND ALTERS THE TASTE OF FOOD.
