If you need a REAL answer ASAP, I would suggest calling City Hall and your local animal shelter and getting specific answers about limits and laws on dog ownership. In my own community, there is a three dog limit on city homes, but you can get a fancier's license, allowing up to 7 adult dogs. Of course, there are inspections of the home and questions asked of neighbors for this special license. And pups under 6 months don't count.

I do wonder, though, if this is something you have been doing (breeding) why you haven't discussed this with other members of the dog clubs you belong to. To other breeders you associate with at dog shows and Spaniel events.

Or do you not attend events with your dogs, proving that they are physically correct (showing), of good temperament (bringing them to schools and nursing homes), good hunters (field events), and so on...If you don't take your dogs out of the yard and prove to the world that they are GOOD Cockers, worthy of reproducing sound offspring...why are you breeding?

I bred Cocker Spaniels for 24 years. You really need to know their Bloodlines b/f getting started into breeding them. Some bloodlines have bad temperments.
Most places anymore in having 3 dogs for breeding-You must have a Breeders Lic. + a State Lic. to. Even though a hobby-The first 5 years will make you or break you!

You are encountering a problem all good breeders grapple with. Most likely your city says you can have 3 dogs. Breeding may require a business license which you can't get in the city, you need to be in the country.
So, you can move to the country and have more land to devote your hobby to or you can keep your dog situation private.
First, talk to all your neighbors, find out how they feel about the dogs you have already, do they like them? Find out what they think of you having one or two more for your hobby?
If you keep your dogs indoors all the time and just have them go out to go potty, keep your yard and home clean, and take good care of your dogs then you probably won't have any problems.

No, it's not ideal. But it is something the majority of reputable and excellent breeders must do.

I hope that there is a way for things to work out for you, just remember to take the best of care of your dogs.

As a hobby how would u like to pass babies out of your penis? I take it you are male thats what your shadow portrays... if you dont show these animals you dont need to breed. You are either breeding to make money or you are just plain retarded. I live in sac I can set up a time for u to come into the shelter and watch some euthanizations........ How about breeder??

Ooooooooohhh... few things irritate me more than backyard breeders! And a breed that's nothing but a walking laundry list of health issues. Ears, eyes, skin, heart, teeth, yeast, obesity, personality disorders, bad hips and knees, vertebral disease, vestibular disease... why are you perpetuating that kind of thing when there are plenty of healthy MIXED BREEDS out there that are looking for good homes??

Do the dogs and yourself a favor-- have everyone spayed or neutered. That includes yourself-- we don't need the kind of stupidity that thinks it's cool to breed Cockers floating around in the gene pool.

Sorry but dog breeding should NOT be a "hobby" too many unwanted dogs are the results of hobby breeders!
