a speaker inside the tv blown good grief, the closest answer here is about the red gun, HOWEVER, for the green to be over-driven(that is what your experiencing) either the green bias transistor has blown its load, or the green gun is shorted to the heater element in the neck of the tube. Either can be fixed by an experienced tech. DO NOT take someones advise who has never even seen a flyback transformer, or can not access the hidden factory menu for frequency adjusting or vertical and horizontal positioning.
EDIT: (11-21-06)
I just repaired a set that had a similar problem, and it turned out to be the "T-Chip". A TV tech knows what this is and can fix it. The part usually costs anywhere from $8 to $25.

There are a few reasons why this could be happening to you. A lot of it has to do with the type of TV you have. If you have a CRT (tube TV), then you probably have some magnetic interferance that is distorting the picture. You may want to move any speaker that are close to it. The picture also gets distorded right before the picture tube goes out. You'll know it by the loud popping noise.
If you have a projection TV, your red picture tube is probably bad. It's a $200-$300 part + labor. This can also be the result of magnetic interferance. Again, leave some space between speakers and the television.
The last option is that whatever you are connecting the TV to has a problem with the colors. Check and make sure that everything is green (i.e. your DVD player, TV channels, game systems).
Good luck.

They're used for the same purpose; to place a filmed person or object in front of a filmed or computer generated set. The reason why one is used sometime rather than another is because certain colors in costumes or objects, when filmed in front of either a blue or green screen, are more difficult to separate and place onto a pre-filmed or fabricated set. So, if the colors do not work particularly well with a green screen, a blue one is used instead.

There are two possible reasons for this
1 The video drive chip can be defective causing either Red ,green or blue overdrive, in this case Green
This fault can be rectified by a good qualified tv engineer, at reasonable cost ,but beware of cowboys !
2 It could be the tube ,sad to say if so it might be to expensive to do a repair ,as the cost of TV s have dropped hopefully it is the first option this info is supplied taking that the set is over 6 years old also UNLESS YOU ARE A QUALIFIED TV ENGINEER PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN SAKE AND THE SAKE OF OTHERS DO NOT REMOVE THE BACK OFF THE TV AS VOLTAGES UP TO 25 THOUSAND VOLTS MAY BE PRESENT FROM THE FLYBACK TRANSFORMER
Hope this was of some help to you
Good luck

My onida TV which is 7 yrs ols just turned to complete green screen. I am afraid and checked in google. Thanks to in.answers.yahoo.com. I found answer, it is because of loose connection. I switched off tv and checked the cables from TV to set top box and found that yellow pin at set top box is loose. I made it tight and switched on TV then it is ok and now I am able to see screen (picture) in good condition. Thank you all and have a very Good day!!

None of the above is actually true!!! Its to do with the speakers either on the tv itself or a device thats near it. If the speaker inside the tv has blown, then it does interfere with you picture. This will not return to normal in time, it will only get worse. The longer you leave it, the more damage it will do. Call somebody to repair it. It costs between £30 and £70, depending on make and model.

If it's uniformly green then it's probably broken (if it's a CRT TV rather than LCD or plasma screen). Could it be that there's no red colour in the picture? If so then the red electron gun has probably gone. It's time to replace the TV.

Mine did the same thing. I use mine for a computer screen though. I just tightened the connection on the computer & all colors came back.
