What exactly does the term Peace Be Upon Him mean? Would it be appropriate for a person of a different faith to use that term or would it be disrespectful.
What about if a Christian says Peace Be Unto You, is that offensive?
I ask because I want to learn and not offend.

As you know the Jewish already used their equalent of same phrase in Hebrew:
Arabic: Asalaam-o-Alaikum
Hebrew: Shalom Alaikhum.....or some thing sounds like that I am not very sure.
Both are "Peace be unto you".

Hi! i'am a converted muslim,what i understand is that they used the term "Peace Be Upon Him" if the person is already past away. and if they used the term "Peace Be Unto You "when you're in the congragation.or to the person still alive.

it is a phrase that we Muslims are required to say after mentioning the name of the Islamic prophets such as Muhammad, Jesus Christ, Abraham and all the other prophets cited in the Qur'an.
it's a commandment to Muslims from the Prophet of Allah Muhammad (pbuh)

We use the sentence "Peace be upon him" only for the prophets and messengers of God.
We cannot use it for a normal human
