If it is going to work out you need to feel comfortable enough with him to just ask whatever is on your mind. The conversation will start to flow naturally and if it doesn't...well, it probably won't work because communication is the key ingredient to any relationship. Some examples to get the conversation started are "where did you grow up?" "What school(s) did you attend?" "what is your favorite sport?" "do you like video games?" "are you good with cars?" "what kind of foods do you like?" "what is your favorite resturant?" "do you drink coffee?" "do you have any siblings?" "have you ever been in love?" "are you a virgin?" "how old were you when you lost your virginity?" "what is your favorite alcoholic beverage?" "what is your favorite color?" "do you believe in God?" "what is your favorite tv show? movie?"
Ask things that are especially important to you...like if you are a strict practicing Catholic and you want your man to be ask him about his religion so that you know what you are getting into before you get in too deep. Good luck!

You'll want to know where he's going in life. What does he want to do?
Talking about the music or cars he likes will probably make him more interested in you, but you want to find out if you're more interested in him, right?
How many kids do both of you want to have? What are your religions? How would you want to raise children if he has a different faith (that can be a real big big issue)? How does he feel about disciplining children?
Those kinds of things are important, but one thing that is really telling is to go out to eat with him - somewhere nicer where you would have a waitress. How he treats a total stranger is an indication of how he will treat you.

ask him what his interests are, his hobbies, what he looks for in a girl, about his past relationships, about sports, school, friends, what he likes to do on weekends, what movies he likes that are out, how he would treat a girl, and just find out is he would be a good boyfriend. some of the things, just talk to him like hes a friend to try to keep the conversation going because i know alot of people are worried for the whole "awkward silence" kinda thing.

What does he like to do, does he drink, smoke, or do drugs? How many other girl friends has he had? Has he been married, if yes then why the divorse? A good way to find out more about a guy is to ask his parents, or his buddies, or co-workers, or all the above.

i don't think there is a specific guideline to follow, conversation will guide you into basic info you need to know. also, don't be shy when asking about sexual history that is really important.

Ask him if he sees anyone else, and if he says yes, then ask him if he plans on making yours an exclusive relationship...

Ask him about cars or something like that. Guys like girls who know their stuff about machines.
