I noticed that If a person say Muslim asks a question and say another non-muslim asks the same question, people tend to attack for no reason soley based on religion. Why is this? Can't people just set asside whatever the stereotype might be and just give an honest answer? I do! I would tell you what I think ecxactly wether you are muslim or not... Is what I am asking impossible for people to do or is it something that could be learned in time?

Respectfully and with love,
Muslimah

Ps. I am not out to get anyone... I have friends from all faiths!

I really try to not be biased. But we are all humans and even though we try we may still have hidden biases. But I do try not to be.

Marhaba, Muslimah, and I note that you are a frequent participant in these proceedings. I try to keep an open mind -- with religion , as with anything else -- because I am a scientist by profession and preference and it is the very essence of scientific inquiry to examine any thesis in the most exquisite detail to look for errors. Only if no errors are found after the most rigorous examination should any thesis be considered reliable enough to be useful. The Bible has numerous errors, as does the Book of Mormon, and the Qur'an has some also, so no religion relying on these texts appeals. But my non-belief is based on something more profound: it is provable that no religious thesis can be of any use in making predictions with respect to the real world. As a result, I'm an agnostic, and expect to stay that way. Salaam 'leikum.

I, myself don't attack anyone for their religion, I don't attack at all (unless someone is showing harm to my children!) I don't answer very many Muslim questions because I don't know about their faith very much.....but I am learning, and I am willing to learn more. I think that because the media in America has stereotyped the Muslim Faith, and there are alot of people under the presumption that every Muslim is a terrorist, that is when you see hateful answers. Yes, they are wrong, but it is very hard for others to see things in another person's eyes. Because of life experiences, my eyes are opened daily, and I respect and enjoy learning about other's faith. But I know that not everybody feels they should do the same.

I think that complete objectivity in anything is really difficult. We approach things with ingrained beliefs and perceptions that we don't even realize that we have. That doesn't mean that we can't avoid overt discrimination and hatred, though. I think that it's important that everyone examine their beliefs, try to find those areas that they have problems with, and work on them. If you teach children to do this from the beginning by setting a good example, future generations will be more open-minded.

I think there are a lot of great people who practice tolerance fairly well and give honest answers. I try my best to be one of them. I'm Catholic, and I really enjoy talking with people of other faiths and opinions. I find that it helps me to better understand myself and my beliefs. I see what you mean, though. Certain people approach answers with a clear bias and don't make any attempt to see and understand another's point of view, or they discriminate based on what is usually a very rudimentary understanding of someone else's faith.

I try to approach forums like this with an open mind and the attitude that there's always something new to learn.

Bias is inevitable. Whilst I find your question to be prudent and very well thought out, many others would see it as a question worthy of their derision. Unfortunately, the stereotypical Muslim is replacing the traditional "real" Muslim. The shift from poetry and architecture, to the burning and bombing of such things is beginning to become more and more commonplace, and without an outlet for such anger, a consequence free environment like the Internet will often provide release.

It is sad to say but such is the world that we live in today. I am biased when it comes to God. So when someone wants to know the answer to a question( and not on here just being inconsiderate and mean)I always give a honest answer. No matter who it is. To be totally honest, hardly ever do I even look at who is asking the question, just the question itself. I am sorry you have had that experience. May God Bless

And I have my ridgid views and if they conflict with God, then too bad.

One of my views, and you recently asked if we would take care of a child no matter what relgion.

One of my views is no 9 year old girl should be made to have sex.

I go on record, as a Christians, if I ever find out God or Jesus condones this or has done thing, then I become an Atheist.

Anyone who does an child below the age of 18 or 16 sexually is not a nice person, be they Jesus or anyone else.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

That is one of my firmest views.

If MY GOD every goes against that, then I GIVE UP MY GOD.

I worship NO God that makes ME or anyone else kiss his boot.

I worship NO God and NO man who steals childhood from a child.

I have been ADIMANT against the Catholics who continue to let Priests who molest children continue working as Priests.

I will NEVER praise ANYONE who screws around with a child.

If you're a mother and you let someone SCREW around with your child, then I have NO love for you.

I wish Islamic Punishment on mothers, fathers and people who screw around with anyone young. Let them ALL be a head shorter.

Do YOU, as person, have a problem with that concept!

No!

Just the truth from the Most High "Real" God!

Anything else is just dissipation and a waste of time!

I also have friends from other faiths.

My Muslim friend gave me a quran and I'm finding out what is the truth for myself. The bible says to test all things!

His wife doesn't know that we go out to breakfast and have bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches.

Absolutely!

I freely admit I am biased, but you know what that makes me? human. I guarantee you also have things your biased about. Its impossible for a person to be completely objective if they have any knowledge.

The only thing we can do is recognize or biased opinions and then try to counterbalance it.

If their is one thing I have learned in life is that the people who claim to be unbiased are often the most narrow minded biased people out there.

I am not biased. I believe in the freedom of religion for all people. I do like to discuss different theologies because I find them interesting and educational. It also helps me remain open minded about religions of all mankind.

I dont care what religion you are. I love every living thing! Its just the certain individual not the religion.

I am a devout christian and my roommate is a muslim. I LOVE HER TO DEATH! She has become a sister to me and I cant imagine living without her.
----
Also for those of you talking about muslim terrorists, what exactly do you have to say about the Crusades? How is it okay for a christian to rape and pillage in the name of God!? No religion is free from extremists.
