Just try to get professional help. Either speach therapy or a behavior analyst. If you cannot gain access to these professionals, read up on the subjects. Your child will be fine and you can help her catch up to the appropriate age levels.

As a mom with a three year old with speech problems, I can relate to what you're going through.
First thing you need to do is make an appointment to have her evaluated by an audiologist to have her hearing checked. Then with a speech pathologist/therapist to access her language skills. It sounds like she may have problem processing language. Your doctor or school district should be able to recommend someone in your area.
At this age it is definitely something to take seriously and get checked out. But unless she's being completely ignored (which I highly doubt from your concern), I disagree with what was said about you simply need to interact with her more.
I hope this helps.

autism is'nt just about not being able to comunicate, it's also about the child being out of sync, as in their own world. If your child is stacking and putting things in straight lines only, without any imaginary play (or not using toys like another child does) then you may think of getting a 2nd opinion about autism.
Otherwise, you may just need to talk to your child more, encourage her by completing full but short sentences to her.
search online for signs on autism, most are clear to see, but if it's not her case, that's great, look at all the options and ideas to help her...

My 3 year old is the same way,but my dr says her hearing and everything are ok,and that maybe she is just a slow talker he said some children progress at diff. rates and not to be worried. My neice was the same way until 4 and now she never shuts up. I also think it is because my daughter is learning 2 languages.

If your doctor says it is not autism, then perhaps you need to spend ALOT more time reading aloud, playing word games and being overly encouraging when she does make progress.
Some 3 year olds don't have a great grasp on speaking but it is odd that she uses words like 'mama' and 'dada' at her age, do you speak to her like a small person? or like a baby? she should be at least saying mum, dad, and short sentences.
if she USED to speak better and is regressing, see a counsellor, maybe she has been through 'something'

Have her hearing checked if he is not saying words right (for a toddler) Or she may have a speech problem (might stem from the hearing)
If her doctor says it is not Autism then it probably might be hearing.

I am not sure but first off I would seek a second opinion. I have found a few links below about this. My daughter has a vocabulary of about 350 + words and she has just turned 3. But I have worked extensively with her, both with learning new words and general speech.

Have they checked her hearing? It could be a mulitude of things. Some kids can talk but just don't want to then one day they just start blurting out long, full sentences. It could be a problem she has or she could just be absorbing her surroundings. Either way, she'll let you know what she's thinking eventually :)

Is she an only child or somethin' like that? Sometimes kids don't have anyone to talk to & although they're capable they don't say anything till you send them to daycare or preschool.
I was exactly like your daughter when i was 3 but I was an only child. Two days after I started playing w/ kids my own age i had come home & just started talking like a normal 3-yr-old.

She could have a speech impediment but most likely she is understood by you so she does not need to talk. If people cater to baby talk the kid continues to do it. Talk to her alot and practice the words with her.
