My dog was born to a litter of 8 from a chuhuaha! i know because i was there when he was born, not too sure what the dad is, but my dog is medium size, like the size of a beagle, but a little taller, jet black with white on his chest, and he looks like a minature black lab! His brothers look just like him but they have really short legs like a weiner dog, very very strange, lol the vet just calls him a black lab, lol except for hes 5 and a quarter of the size of a black lab. Just wondering if anyone knew :)

He sounds cute ! Maybe his dad is ablack lab and he is a labrahuahua ( I made that up) What would be telling about his pedigree would be ears (standing or floppy) and temperament.
If he looks like a beagle it could even be a dachsund dad.
He might end up very wired and temperamental. Both those breeds are very intelligent and needs a firm master who is always boss. Thats because they will want to rule the household.

It's ultimately up to you. However, I wouldn't really advise it given your situation. Renting with animals is hard because it is difficult to find a landlord who will allow multiple pets (I know, I've been there with three cats and one dog). Most apartments that advertise as "pet friendly" aren't really all that friendly. Most have a limit of two pets, and many that allow dogs have a weight limit of 30lbs. Then there is the matter that the dog you are thinking of adopting is considered a pit bull. Many landlords that do allow dogs have a list of breeds that they won't rent to and pit bulls are usually at the top of that list. Sometimes it is because of personal ignorance or fear, but many times these restrictions are actually brought on them by insurance companies who won't insure the property if a certain breed of dog is residing there. If you really really want this to work, there are ways to make it work. But it is often extremely difficult and you are entering a stressful and uncertain time of you life even when you don't factor pets into the equation.

He obviously isn't a purebred Chihuahua. He's a mutt.
He sounds very cute :) Mutts generally have the best temperament. He could be Chihuahua x anything, really. The mother of the dog could have escaped when she was on heat and mated with another mutt or maybe a purebred dog.
You can get those colours with nearly ANY breed of dog so it would be near impossible to say what breed he is just by a vague description.

There is a possibility that the mother dog, was bred by two males. It is actually a pretty common thing. Some of the puppies will have a few features of one male, while the others will have more features like the other male. To be honest, it would be really hard to say what mix your dog is without a pic. I wish I could have helped you more.

say hes a mutt. don't be ashamed to! i say my dog is a mutt because i have the suspicion he is not what the person i got it from said she was. my dog looks like Nana on Snow Dogs. but with shorter hair. i really don't think she looks like an austrailian shepard. lol
