I'm planning to take a trip to Bangkok and Pattaya in Jan 07 on a low budget. Any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks!

From Bangkok, catch the bus from Ekamai or Mo Chit Bus Terminals. Costs less than Bahts 120. A 2-2.5 hours ride and you'll be in Pattaya.

The other way is by a taxi. Negotiate for the price, should be around bahts 1000-1200.

Have fun :-)

Easiest way if you are staying in Bangkok is to book a tour which will pick you up at the hotel and deposit you back. Bus to Sri Rach is easy but to get from Sri Racha to the tiger zoo will be a bit more difficult and you are at the mercy of local Tuk Tuk drivers who will probably have no English. If you go via Pattaya it is quite a long way back toward Bangkok and will still involve a tour company. If staying in Pattaya at all it would be easier to arrange a tour there. If the Tiger Zoo interests you it is likely that Kow Keow open zoo and Nong Nooch park would also be of interest in which case it would be far better to stay in Pattaya for a couple of days and organise tours from there rather than commute from Bangkok. Pattaya also has Underwater World aquarium and Mini Siam for a slightly different excursion as well as it is worthwhile to at least travel walking street at night to see the excesses which some tourists think of as entertainment. Have a good trip.

Most economical and cheapest? Walking, just kidding.

There are buses that come from either the Airport, hotel, or Eastern(Ekkamai station) or Northern(Mo Chit station) bus station in Bangkok. Cost from 80baht to 200 baht. See website below for further info and phone numbers.

I think the www.a2zpattaya.com has the more current info.

Have a good trip.

The cheapest way is the bus. Should take 3 hours or more though and will cost somewhere in the area of 200 baht.

Apart from walking - Hitch-hiking is the cheapest but not a good idea as yo will likely be robbed.

Take a bus - cheap, and adventurous and you will see a lot along the way. There are also plenty of tour operators with very good prices.
