If there is enough tooth remaining to do the crown, I'd always go for the root canal and crown. It's "nature's implant" and you know your body will not reject it.

Root canal and crown! There's nothing like your own teeth. But if that doesn't work, an implant is better than a bridge.

Always try to keep your own teeth if you can. I have a tooth they told me needed to be pulled, but I refused. Had the root canal and crown. They gave me a 50/50 chance of it working. I told them I would take the 50% that it would. That was 12 yrs ago and I still have MY tooth that God gave me. If it doesn't work, you can always go to the alternative, but at least you've tried to save an original part of your body!

i would go with what your dentist thinks is best for you, if he thinks the root canal is going to save your tooth get a root canal! My dentist told me that there's nothing like your own tooth! I got 4 root canals and they worked out well and saved my teeth! I had 2 of them done more than 10 years ago and two recently and had, no pain, sensitivity in the teeth whatsoever! I don't think twice what i eat but i do take good care of my teeth! Get a really good dentist to do it! I searched and check a few before i found the right one!

BY FAR THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO KEEP IN YOUR MOUTH WHAT NATURE GAVE YOU. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE IS SHORT-TERM SUCCESS WITH IMPLANTS, WHO REALLY KNOWS WHERE THESE FOLKS ARE 30, 40, OR 50 YEARS AFTER THEY HAD AN IMPLANT PLACED?
