I had a 79 cougor with a 351 Windsor in it,it had an oil leak real bad,but as long as I kept oil in it it would run great.I made a 4 hour trip in it and 4 quarts of oil, smoked like a freight train but ran like a top. That thing would move,I wished I would have kept the car and get the engine fixed because that was the best car I had.Even with it burning (leaking oil) I could still squall the tires, and hard driving. I have a 94 Ford F150 with a 302 and it runs great as well. The only engines that Ford makes that was worth a sh!t is the 302 and 351W. The 351C is good too,but hard to find.

There was a 302 "Cleveland" of sorts. It was called the Boss 302. It featured a Windsor block with 351 Cleveland heads.
You can bolt the Cleveland heads to any 302 block, but you must modify the water passages and use a custom intake (I think it was called the "Track Boss"), J.Bittle American used to sell the parts.
The Cleveland heads had huge ports with domed chambers and canted valves to allow for large valves within the 4" bore.
If you plan on going through the trouble to do this mod, use a 351 Windsor block instead, you get a 1/2" longer stroke and a stouter bottom end.

The Boss 302 was a great motor if you had a place you could keep it at 9000 rpm's , but it would suck for a daily driver in traffic. The clevor 302 with 2v cleveland heads and a track boss intake is a fun combo , but its too much money for the horsepower. The 351 cleveland was probably fords best all around motor for the money, the 4v was hot and the 2v was good on gas but still had the power to get out into traffic.

Here in Australia we had both 302 Windsor and 302 Clevelands. I have had quite a few of both. Windsor always seemed to rev better and considerably better fuel consumption, but if your not driving hard and pulling weight the Cleveland is a good motor. It is externally bigger and heavier and better suited to larger vehicles. I had one that ran up to 500,000 miles without a rebuild.

The 302 is better than the 302C.More part's smaller and lighter. The 351W block is stronger and they're rated for 650hp vs 500hp for the 351C and the 302 and 351W have main priority oiling. Btw the 302 isn't a Windsor the 351W was the only Ford engine called Windsor only because of the other 351.The 289/302/Boss 302/351W are part of the 90 degree V family aka small block Ford.
