My hands and feet are cold a lot, I may have Raynaud’s, I think my mom and grandma have it. Say I'm in a room where another person is perfectly comfortable, and I'm comfortable, except that my feet are cold and numb feeling (feels like my bones have turned to ice). They're a little cool to the touch, but not that cold. Is it alright to just ignore them, or do I need to get them warmed up? Sure, it's annoying, but I've gotten used to it, I'm 22 and I've been like this for years and years. I know that if they got really cold, like if I was outside in the cold, I could possibly get frostbite if I ignored them, but I wouldn't do that. I guess my question is this: is it harmful to ignore the feeling that my feet are cold, if they're not actually too cold?

I'm most interested in answers from people with medical backgrounds or with experience with this. Thank you!

I know that I could go to a doctor, but I'm not going to, so telling me that won't help me.

I'm not skinny, I'm overweight now, though I used to be skinny and had the same problem, so it's not related to weight.

Thanks for your interest, everyone, but I'm not looking for people to tell me what possibly might be wrong with me. I already know: my hands and feet get cold, might be Raynaud's. I just really want to know if I need to warm my cold parts up, or if it's not harmful to just ignore the cold feeling.

It is mostly annoying to my husband when I decide to put my cold hands or feet on him to warm them up. ; )

I've been cold since I was about 12, nearly 48 now AND going through menopause. Now that I have the temp swings (hot flashes to pretty cold, as usual) I prefer being cold.

Talk to your doctor, my problem stems from a minor bleeding disorder.

To answer, most of the time I just ignore it. ; )

Edit: I am no longer skinny and remain cold.

well.. My feet stay really cold and purple... my hands, are cold most of the time.. The doctors believe I have raynaud's.. I'm pretty sure i do... but.. I usually wear socks.. most of the time anyway.. it helps a little.. but my feet always stay cold.. its best to try to keep them warm.. or stick them in warm water... I dont think its harmful.. but if you're really concerned about it.. you should find some information about it on the internet...

You might want to talk to a doctor about it - sometimes the constantly cold hands and feet are the result of circulation problems caused by heart disease or diabetes.

If it is normal for you then it is nothing to worry about, especially as you have learned to cope with it.

I would suggest mentioning it to your doctor the next time you are there so it is down in your records in case you get other problems in the future that could be related. Change of any condition is the thing to worry about.

No idea, but I have that too and it sure as hell is annoying! Are you skinny? Because everyone who I talk to just blames it on me being really skinny..

I think it is a sign of poor circulation. I have the same problem.
