You probably get sick from all of the sugar in the cranberry juice. Try a good vodka (flavored) with soda and a splash of sprite or cran. Always have a glass of water in front of you and you won't feel so bad in the morning. I love stoli vanil & diet.

The age old answer is: It depends.
My personal favorite drink at the bar is bourbon. Jack Daniels to be specific. A Jack and Coke just can't be beat. If you are really looking to start the night off right, I'd suggest a bottle of Sam Adams and a shot of Jack Daniels.
Another good drink that I enjoy (even though it sounds a little girly) is a Rasberry Stoli (vodka) and 7-up. I tend to order this when I get tired of Jack Daniels.
When I first started drinking I was fond of the White Russian. This is a pretty tasty drink, but don't order it at a busy bar. It pisses the bar tender off because it takes some time to make.
Seasonal beer is always fun. Most brewers have seasonal beers available this time of year.
Have fun, and don't be afraid to ask the bartender what s/he recommends. Chances are the guy pouring the booze also likes to drink it.

Absolut Vodka and orange juice... Any alcoholic drink will give you a hangover if you drink too much of it, but Absolut & OJ usually leaves you in pretty good shape the next day.

rum and diet coke or vodka and oj. basically something w/out a lot of sugar because sugar dehydrates you faster and gives you a hangover. diet coke makes you get wasted quicker and it has no sugar.
