Lead in trace amounts and with limited exposure time will not harm you The reason lead became such a problem was beacause it was everywhere. It was in paint, pipes, furniture and so on. This exposed people to more than trace amounts all the time, which caused the negative health impact. It can't hurt to wash your hands after contact with lead though.
