You have to do exercise that is aerobic for at least 20-30 minutes. That will increase the rate at which you burn calories for the next 24 hours. However, a half hour of moderate aerobic activity will burn about 200 calories. There are 3,500 calories in a pound.
To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume.
Protein and complex carbs are lower in calories. They have 4. calories per gram. Fats have 9 calories per gram. Also the body changes fat from food into body fat with less effort than protein and carbs. Protein helps you not feel hungry too soon. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables (or frozen) 5 servings or more a day. Avoid refined foods and white sugar and white flour. Eat as little fat as possible.
Read food labels. You want low calories, low fat and high fiber.

I don't have a lot of time myself. I lost weight (27 pounds in 42 days so far) on a natural and healthy no diet plan called STACK. You do not skip meals and you do not eat or buy special foods. You add it to your current life and it only takes about 15 minutes a day and I have done this without exercise.

Walking really helped me shed pounds quickly (coupled with a very low-cal diet). But if you don't have time to walk, I found one of those mini stairsteppers worked as a great alternative. They only cost around $50.00 or so at your local Wally mart. And they take up very little space.
For low-cal meals I bought those frozen ones by Michelina (I hope I spelled that correctly). They are only about a $1.00 each and calories are clearly marked on them. My side dish with them was lots and lots of celery.
I also kept a daily log (just a little book I carried with me everywhere) of my daily food intake and how many minutes of exercise I did that day. The log sounds like a lot of work, but it wasn't. It really helped determine what worked best on any given week.
Good luck!

It's about the amounts you eat. Take your plate and fill it up with what you are having to eat and the normal amount you would have. Next take one piece of bread cut it in half. Wrap one of the halves and put away.
Sit down at the table with your food. Take a knife and cut each thing on your plate in half. Eat only half of everything on your plate including your bread half..
Once you have done that cover the remaining food and put it away. Pop will add 15 pounds to your current weight. Try and stay away from those. Drink Milk, water, juices and coffee. Try low cal. yogurt or ice cream for your desert. Eat plenty of salads. Snack on carrots, celery, cottage cheese low cal., apples etc.
Hope this has helped you.
