Hi, Yes beer can go bad and rather quickly once opened. If you want to determine if the beer is bad after sitting in the frige for a couple of weeks do this. First pour yourself some into a glass. Next does it produce a foam. then look at the clairty of the beer. Is it clear and the color it needs to be. Then smell the beer. Does it smell like a beer should. Finally do you see any particles floating in the beer. If you can answer no to any or all of these questions the beer has gone bad.
Hope this helps,
Chris

If you opened it already before sealing it tightly and storing it in the 'fridge there is a chance you introduced some bacteria that could make it go bad, plus you let some of the fizz out. A lot of beers sold in 40 oz containers don't taste good to begin with so the odds of your beer being bad are pretty good. But rest assured while its still bad its just as good as the day you bought it.

I really never had beer stay in my fridge that long that it went bad but I am sure it can if left in there long enough. First thing and only thing is that I need to say please don't waste beer if you cant drink a 40 buy a 22 or a 16 oz tall boy whatever you do do not leave beer in fridge after opening for more than 8 hours.

Most beer produced is bad to begin with, it is miller, bud, coors or some other mass produced swill.
If it came in a 40 it was likely bad to begin with. Quality beer doesn't often come in a 40 or have a resealable cap. Now it will be not only bad but also flat.

you should pour it in a glass, if it looks cloudy or moldy dont drink it, but beer usually stays ok, if the lid is on and kept in the refrigerator :)

It will be flat, and won't taste fresh, but you won't get sick. Beer has a "freshness" date on it. Just follow that.
