Because it is an opportunity for you to be misled by unclean spirits, who may give you correct answers but only to mislead you latter.

They aren't harmful. Lots of people here will tell you that they are tools of the devil, you're conjuring demons, etc, but the truth is that none of those things - or ghosts, spirits, what have you - exist. So waste you time on tarot cards and ojiua boards all you want, but don't delude yourself into thinking your'e actually accomplishing anything.
Edit: Look up 'cold reading' techniques. Many predictions made by tarot readers and people who write horoscopes are just vague enough that people see themselves in it (yes, I am basically a good person but I make mistakes - yes, I am smarter than average but not living up to my full potential - yes, I do want to fall in love - yes, I did recently lose someone close to me) but not specific enough to actually predict anything that wasn't very likely anyway.

9When you come into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of these nations.
10There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or is a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer,
11Or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Because we are supposed to pray and turn to the Lord for guidance on how to live our lives. When we use other sources, we have ignored the divine source and in a sense we have put an "idol" before Him. Since 1/3 of the host of heaven were cast out with Satan, they can influence a reading and your choices.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 states, "There should not be found in you anyone who...employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional fortune teller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something detestable to God.
All these practices are an ivitation to communication with or possession by unclean spirits, or demons.

Some Christians believe that any experimentation with the occult invites demonic possession. I don't know about that. I do know that StarScroll publishes uncannily accurate horoscopes, and I find them very useful. I don't have any useful experience on Tarot to contribute.

It is sinful because it is associated with sorcery and witchcraft. Sorcery and witchcraft are evil according to the Bible so the things you mention at the very least could be considered the appearance of evil. We as Christians are told in the scriptures to avoid even the appearance of evil so therefore it is sin.

There are stories in the bible where people approached seers to forcast the future or interpret dreams.
So, how can it be a sin?
Christians, in the majority, will call it a sin. Arguing with the bible they say they believe in.

In the book of Acts1:26 "And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles."
They cast lots to determine the twelfth apostle. Is not that divining?
