The tragus is made from thick cartilage. Of course it will hurt more than soft-tissue piercings (like ear lobes) for a few days. Be sure to keep a close eye on it (use a mirror) so it doesn't get infected; because it is so thick, an infection would be hard to clear up. If it gets really red, pus-filled, or hurts worse, you'll need to see a doctor.

Yeah, it will hurt for a couple weeks. I had a lot of trouble with mine, it got infected enough to warrant antibiotics twice, and I looked after it. The doctor told me that cartilage has minimal blood flow, so they are easily infected. Wash it twice a day with salt water (I got contact lens fluid, it worked well), and don't change the piercing, you'll be ok.

Yes, it will hurt for a while. After I got mine done, it still hurt for weeks. And then even after it had mostly healed, any time I'd brush up against it (like when I was brushing my hair or something), it would be sore. But so long as it's not infected or anything (redness, oozing pus, SUPER tenderness), then don't worry about it. I used Dr. Bronner's castille soap and it healed just fine.

I personally think its normal, i got mine pierced but i had to take it out because it got infected. But thats only because i didn't clean it properly. Mine hurt for a long time up until the day i took it out. But that doesn't mean yours will. Just keep it clean and it will be fine. I presume they gave you sea salt to clean it with. Use it three times a day. And it will be okay.
