Volunteer to help with special needs children in your school. There is usually a special need for volunteers during Special Olympics meets. This could lead to a "helping" career in the future,

Good luck!

Caesar is on to something. I work with Special needs adults, and that is so true when special olympics comes around many volunteers are needed. And don't get it twisted it is so much fun. why? bc that population is so greatful for so many things that we take for granted. Besides that, reading to children. think about something you would like to do and go volunteer, make sure it is fun though. Volunteer work can also go on your future resume. This is only the beggining. Also look into sorority auxilary groups, My sorority Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc has an auxilary group for your age range so I am sure others do too. What ever you get involved in that means something to you make sure you have fun and learn. And your main movement is to finish school.

Contact a senior housing development or a nursing home. Ask them if you can volunteer to be a friend to someone in their facility who has no family - or someone who's family doesn't visit them. Visit the person they sign you up to visit with, at least once a week for a hour.

I assure you, that after your third visit that your life will take on a totally knew meaning. Let me know how is goes. You're a fine man.

I'm sure that your high school has some clubs that you can join. Also, how about Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts?
