Very good question! Nowhere in the bible does it say that the tree of knowledge was an apple tree. How rediculous does that sound? The apple and the apple tree was simply an artists rendering of what s/he thought the event would have looked like. The artwork was probably done sometime in the 8th century in Europe anyway.

I didn't think that the Bible specifically said it was an apple. All I remember it saying was "a fruit off the tree of Knowledge"
I could be wrong though.

The verse actually says that Adam & Eve ate the fruit of the knowledge of good & evil. It never says apple. But, even the idea of the fruit of knowledge is a symbol. It symbolizes the knowledge of duality and self differentiation.

In the Bible it states that Eve ate of the Forbidden fruit, it does not give a specific fruit, the apple is merely a symbol.

The Bible says she ate a piece of fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. People just like to say it was an apple. I guess it's just a nice generic type of fruit.

It NEVER said apple. It says she ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Man pictoralized the fruit as an apple for some odd reason.

Yes, she did. God made all the fruit trees you can think of. He told them specifically not to eat of the apple tree because he was testing their love for Him. God also gave us and them freewill that is why there is so much sin in the world today because of Adam and Eve's sin. Go and read the book of Geneses it will tell you all about it. Oh and nobody is really sure where the Garden of Eden was. Very very good question by the way.

The Bible does NOT say it was an "apple"; rather, just that it was a "fruit".
Most probably it was literal; of course many preachers can take one simple fact and then develop a whole sermon around the symbolism they find there.

A better concept is fruit which, even if literal, has a lot of symbolic meaning. An even broader question is whether Eve herself was symbolic. Adam and Eve may simply represent all of mankind in a generic sense.

there is no prove that she did, or even existed, it is all in religion, if you believe it or not, It probably wasn't even an apple. because an apple is not native to the region she was in. It would be more of a tropical fruit like the pomogranit
