5 months isn't a very long time, especially for someone such as himself who's never had sex. If he says he isn't ready, he isn't ready. Don't push the subject or you'll end up pushing him away. Pressuring a virgin into having sex when they aren't ready is just a disaster waiting to happen.
Respect his feelings.
