The bank will give you a new number since you lost it. They and you do not want anyone trying to use your old credit card.

The credit card company has to issue you a new number so that noone can use that lost card. Make sure if you have any automatic payments that go to that card to call the companies and give them your new card number.

No.

If you ask for a duplicate card (not acknowledging you have lost it) they will issue same 16 number.

If you admit you lost it, then the creditor needs to issue you a new 16 digit number to protect you from potential credit card theft.

They will close your old number and start you with a fresh one so that no one else can use your account.
