i would wait at least 3 to 4 days according to my dentist...of course i never listened to him and never had any problems at all....ive always been told the dry socket gets you the worst on the lower teeth the top you dont have to worry about as much....but after the sockets clot and begain the healing process their shouldnt be any problems with smoking

I had my wisdom tooth cut out tuesday and that night i took a few puffs but i packed my holes with gauze, the next day i smoked but not alot and not a whole cig at a time. Take small puffs and don't puff hard just put in gauze and be careful! After i smoked i rinsed it out with warm salt water the next 2 days, i'm not healed yet and still don't smoke as much as i usually do because i can puff sometimes and it hurts, anyway no dry socket yet so smoke if you want to just be careful.

Hi,
Great post! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and I thought I wasn't addicted!
Here's what I tried before finding success: hypnosis, those fake cigaretts, the nicotine patch, and group therapy....none worked.
I finally tried this HERBAL patch I bought 6 months ago on the net. They claim a 97% success rate. Well, it worked! They had a sweet deal which was a free 10 day trial for only $3.95 including shipping (it's regularly $53 for 10 days)!!
I don't know if they still have that deal, but it's worth a try.

Good Luck

Wait three days. Dry socket is the worst thing ever and if you smoke after a day or two you are much more proned to get it. Just stay drugged up and sleeping and you won't even think about smoking :)

DRY SOCKET HURTS! AND IT HURTS REALLY BAD. IF YOU MUST INHALE NICOTINE ONLY TRY TO SMOKE VERY LIGHTLY W/O CREATING A STRONG VACUUM IN YOUR MOUTH.
SMOKING SLOWS DOWN HEALING.
