It could be caused from many things..a cold, sinus problems, dry air, etc. One thing I do when I get a sore throat is sip some chamomile tea. It really helps! Otherwise, I would suggest taking some pain relievers and sucking on throat drops or just drinking anything warm in general. Hope my advice helps!

It doesn't necesarrily mean you're getting a cold. I got a really sore and itchy throat one time, maybe because I ate too many sweets. What I did was I added a bit of salt in a cup filled with water, then I will gargle the water. It may take a few hours to work, but it does disappear. You can always eat one of those mint candies, but I heard that's only for temporary relief. The pain gets worse after a few hours.

Well I don't know about a cold since I can't see you. I have chronic sore throats due to retainers and I just catch them from anybody period.
Here's what I do:

Chloraseptic! (I don't know if I speller that right) is the greatest aorre throat invention of all time! Its taste it okay. If you don't like taste go with the spray. If you don't mind the taste go with the drops.

Gargle baking soda water. 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Works wonders.

Eat ice. Get small pieces of ice fast. After a few minutes the cold will numb your throat. It feels pretty good.

If you aren't coughing and don't have any phelm or trouble clearing your throat drink something cold (or hot if that feels better) that is the consistency of egg nog. It will coat your throat and relieve alot of pain.

Pain reliever. Tylenol, aspirin. Both worked for me.

Don't eat rough foods. Nice and smooth. Soups without alot of veggies, liquids, puddings, jello, stuff like that. Also these may help to coat your throat and help it feel better. Eat a food that is the temperature that makes your throat feel better. Any rough foods will merely stratch your troat and irritate it.

Rest and try to swallow only as often as you need to and no more. Often swallowing can irritate the throat and it can help to avoid it for a little bit.

Good luck!

Rough Throat

could be the beginnings of a cold or just complications from allergies....

colds are viral so there is no cure for them (antibiotics will not cure it). expect about 7-14 days to pass before it goes away.

if it's allergy related-you might want to see about getting put on an allergy medication but only if you are experiencing this on a regular basis.

to treat the sore throat

-suck on ice cubes, hard candy, or cough drops
-gargle with warm salt water (2 tsp of salt to 8oz of water) avoid getting the water too hot-you could scald your throat, irritating it more
-drink warm tea w/honey
-put a warm mist humidifier in your room at night. this will help keep the air moist and prevent your throat from drying out and becoming worse
-take cough medicine like robutessin or vicks 44 for the cough
-drink plenty of fluids to help ward off dehydration and to also help flush out the germs. avoid caffeine and high sugar drinks-these make dehydration worse
-drink orange juice. the vitamin c will help boost your immune system and help the cold pass faster. you can take vitamin c drops but be careful to only take the recommended dosage-you can overdose on these and they will make you very sick.

hope you feel better soon

By experience, you might just have some dust settling in your throat. You could as well be coming down with something.

At any rate, for comfort, take plenty of honey but see a pharmacist; best advise I can give you!
