Your age, the severity of your dysfunction and your lifestyle/preferences affect your choice of treatment. There is therapy that helps people come up with strategies and mental exercises for improving attention and productivity. If you are open to medication intervention, there are different classes of medications docs use to treat it. You can use a combination of both types of intervention.
You say that you have difficulty with "certain" tasks. Have you been formally diagnosed? Sometimes all of us have difficulty attending to specific tasks for one reason or another and those circumstances don't add up to a disorder. I find that making smaller concrete goals (like reading one page at a time if I'm reading a novel) is helpful so that I don't feel overwhelmed by a task and give up prematurely.
Edit: Since you're in school, you should probably talk to a school counselor. Most people can benefit from some talk therapy. School counselors have enough experience with those disorders that they can tell you your condition is perfectly normal, if you should see a med doc, and what strategies you can work on to help you with school work.

I too have ADD myself. I sometimes stop reading a book or novel because it gets boring easily, and I have a hard time concentrating on my school work, sometimes I procrastinate. But what I do is I have to be determined and focused and think of that do the tasks now, before the other tasks, homework will pile up. I know it is hard to do, but you have to try

Make sure to get some active time outside every day. The more natural setting, the better. So walking in the park is better than a busy street and the woods is better than the park, etc, but in any case just get outside!
You can also try eliminating sugar from your diet.

first of all, who told you that you have ADD/ADHD? Doctors come up with these terms and put you on medication unnecessarily. All medication works against your body's natural defences. You say you get distracted easily, you cannot concentrate.. well, i was like that too at your age. I was considered normal, and so i am today. Terms like ADD/ADDH never existed. Will power is all you need. tell yourself you need to concentrate, to do well and you will... Don't tell yourself that you have these things, because you don't. You are normal and healthy and its just a phase. Tell yourself some positive affirmations every morning as soon as you get up.... get into some sort of sport.. you'll be fine.

Are you looking for a natural remedy? A friend of a friend I knew in college could only control his ADD/ADHD by smoking weed. I have cousins who also have it, but they are taking prescriptions like Ritalin and Stratera.

You did not say how old you are and if you are male or female but I would speak to a doctor and have yourself checked out. There is help out there if you need it.

Listen carefully to what I say, because I mean what I say:
Attention is spiritual power, our spiritual existence will starve to death without regular meditation.
I'm aware of your situation. Rather than an excuse not to meditate, your situation makes it all the more important.

There is no such thing as ADD/ADHD. You're more than likely the victim of a horrible school school system or ambitious adults.
