In New York state, how old do you have to be to buy a .223 caliber rifle?

Eighteen for all rifles and shotguns. Caliber/gauge makes no difference. Twenty one for handguns. This is a federal law.

The laws very from state to state but the age qualification is set by the federal government that would be 21 or 22 not sure on that exactly... sorry!

I don't think you can even say "gun" without being arrested in NY.
