Some people do get carried away & try & convert you but if they haven't got the gift to do it they shouldn't do it because they will turn people off
if they had the gift of doing it you wouldn't get upset because it would be done in a way that was not upsetting.
But their hearts are in the right place
they think they are helping you to have a better life etc so really
how can that hurt knowing they care about you even if they are wrong in your opinion

This is true in some respects. Some Christians get the idea that we are to build a giant factory that converts sinners into Christians. Really what God ask us to do is to go into the world and live and work along side thous who don't know Christ and need Christ. If in your life you lead only one person to Christ through obedience to God's word you have lived out God's call on your life.
It makes no sense to "Convert" some one and then leave them to go "convert" others. The new believer wouldn't last long with out the love and friendship that God commands His children to have for them and each other.
As a side note I personally don't aim to convert people off the bat but to cause them to question and encourage them to search for themselves. There really isn't much more a person can do over the Internet.
Any one can feel free to message me though my 360 account. I would be happy to try and aid you in your search for the truth. And in turn you will help me in my search for the truth.

My mother in law was very upset when Jehovah's witnesses came to her home uninvited right after her dog died. They told her that dogs don't have an afterlife. They hoped to convert her through causing her more pain.
That is wrong, but many people who believe in a God and an afterlife also believe that unless you listen and go along with them, you're not going to Heaven. Then comes the uncomfortable moment when you have to let them know that you don't believe them or in their beliefs. In my view, belief, or lack of it, is a personal thing which comes from personal experience, but I can't convince anyone of that! After all, why is everyone and everything individual?

I don't care for proselytizing. I am secure enough in my faith that it doesn't matter if I am the only person on earth who practices, I would be just as happy and fulfilled. I don't need other humans to validate my faith. Whatever works for others (if anything at all) is what they need to practice.

As a Christian, we believe it is our obligation to spread the word of God, but that's all we are to do. It's not to be forced. Just presented so it can be received. Questions answered if asked. Praying together. If you are not interested, a true Christian will leave you alone.

Unless God is really moving in our lives, I feel only God himself can make this come to pass. No human being is going to convert anyone.
