The child is American. This is why many foreigners do this in the first place.

As of right now that child is a US citizen. When and if the Government passes new legislation on Anchor Babies...they will continue to be US citizens. This does not give the parent the right to stay in this country though.

Unfortunatley (and stupidly) an American citizen.
Now a question for you... If you are considering this, why would you want to have your child in a place where it is not wanted?
Don't Mexicans see how hated they are becoming for doing exactly what you just asked about? If you want your kid to be an American citizen then for once be honest and do it the legal way, by applying and going though the right channels.
The good thing that has come out of the Mexican invasion is that all of us Americans (Black, White, Red, Yellow) have some common interest now. The Mexicans have united us! We all want the illegal ones gone!

Yes, the child will have dual citizenship. We live on the U.S. Mexico border in Texas. Many women come over both to have babies so they will be U.S. citizens AND because we have excellent healthcare. Think about it. You could have a baby in a hospital with medical equipment that is on average 30 years outdated with a high infant mortality rate if there are any complications, or you can drive three miles to the U.S. side, and have your.baby. You would be crazy to not want to have your baby born here. Also, contrary to what many think, there are a lot of paying customers from Mexico who come here!

The child is an American Citizen. I posed this question to the passport information line while trying to obtain a passport for my nephew. He was born in the U.S. but his parents are illegal.
Any child born in the U.S. can claim citizenship.

I would say to all read the article lucky2balive, posted. VERY informative. If you doubt it dig a little. If your afraid it to be true, you won't. Blows all the anchor baby's back home. Find me more than a hand full of Illegals FROM Mexico that swear allegiance to the U.S. Before you jump, if they do or would they would come here by proper channels.
This should be a memo for all Lawmakers.
