Yes.
Liberals forget it all the time because stupidity is hard to get over but,
The authorization was sought by President George W. Bush. Introduced as H.J.Res. 114, it passed the House on October 10 by a vote of 296-133, and by the Senate on October 11 by a vote of 77-23. It was signed into law by President Bush on October 16, 2002.
The resolution cited many factors to justify action:
Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 cease fire, including interference with weapons inspectors
Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction, and programs to develop such weapons, posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region"
Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population"
Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people"
Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the 1993 assassination attempt of former President George H. W. Bush, and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War
Members of al-Qaida were "known to be in Iraq"
Iraq's "continu[ing] to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations
Fear that Iraq would provide weapons of mass destruction to terrorists for use against the United States
The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight the 9/11 terrorists and those who aided or harbored them
The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism

The war was approved by Congress based on the information given to them by the Bush Administration. They were not given full disclosure of ALL the info, just the info that said there were WMD's. Bush pushed to invade Iraq, claiming that the US was in immediate danger of another attack, even before UN inspectors had completed their search for them. Big mistake. Because there were no WMD's. Bush claims now, the intelligence was false. Yet the US spends more money than any other nation on intelligence, so how can we get the intelligence so wrong? It wasn't a matter of poor intelligence, it was a matter of not investigating ALL the intelligence. Remember the accusation of "cherry picking" the info to give to Congress?
Of course, other things have come to light since our invasion. The report to the CIA from Joe Wilson (Valerie Plame's hubby) that Africa did not sell uranium to Saddam. Why wasn't this type of info given to Congress for consideration?
70% of the international community did not approve of our invasion of Iraq. Scholars say it will take a century or more, to regain our status as a world leader, if ever. If we invaded Iraq without just cause, what would prevent us from invading other countries without just cause? We are hated for this huge mistake Bush & Company made. And it may well be our demise in the future, if a nuclear holocost occurs. And it will, eventually.

The conflict Bush released. Now human beings will inform you lies, yet right this is the reality: Bush went to congress to vote, then to the UN (the two authorized) and then for one final time went back to congress for approval, which substitute into closer, yet substitute into nevertheless a sure.

If congress hadn't approved it the US wouldn't be in Iraq right now and you'd be traveling around the world getting a much friendly reception from foreigners.

Yes and many Democrats backed the war on Iraq. Some are flip flopping now and saying they were lied too, but they read the exact same intellegence reports as George Bush. Even former president Bill Clinton said what George Bush said about Iraq.
The U.S. is hardly hated. I see absolutely no country boycotting the U.S. and that's the real sign that a country is hated. Even Iran wants to pay Americans $20 to visit their country. Cuba wants the sanctions to be lifted so they can buy American goods.

it was approved by the Congress because our officials, like Donald Rumsfeld presented some evidence of Iraqis making the weapons of mass destruction and the war was not only approved by our Congress, but it was approved by the rest of the world (of course, except the Middle East and rest of the Muslim countries)... i wouldn't say we are the most hated nation in the world but definitely the most resented one for being the most powerful nation in the whole entire world... I think we are the most feared nation in the world and you know what Churchill said, "it's better to be feared than loved" God Bless America and keep our troops safe, so they can come back to their homeland and rejoin their loved one...

War has not been declared by Congress since WWII but the majority of Congress, Dem and Rep, supported and funded the "War" in Iraq, so one cannot go and blame the current administration. Most people supported the war. In fact, many Americans do not have a problem with entering Iraq, but how it has been managed since then

Yes it was but do not forget that Bush and his administration lied and twisted facts and spun non-facts to make sure that the war against Iraq was justifiable. Of course now we all know and nothing can be done about the war but try to win a Bush victory, or pull out like we did in Saigon, Vietnam.
