Roughly 3 weeks: week one is the "bleeding" week, week 2 is the breeding week, week 3 she is going out of heat but males may still be interested. She should only be outside on a leash and supervised during the entire 3 weeks if you do not want puppies. I know of dogs who were bred through a chainlink fence and dogs that were bred but were only left alone for less than 5 minutes (where there's a will, there's a way!!).
As with all things in life, there are exceptions to this and each dog is an individual, so this is only a rough estimate!

I honestly think it depends on the dog. My moms pit, stayed in heat for what seemed like forever. I think smaller dogs may not last as long, or go into heat as often.

Usually about 21 days.
7 day coming in
7 days in
7 days going out.
Keep her away from all males until she is fully out of heat.

3 weeks. The first week you probably won't really notice, the second is when she is most fertile.
