She is smoking for the same reason you are asking how to make her quit. You do not know how to asserted your authority!
I am assuming that there is no one that is willing to put the proverbial "smack-down" to your daughter. She is 15 lady, take away what she likes, i.e. phone, computer, free time. If that doesn't work, add on duties, i.e. cut grass, move stuff from the basement to the attic and back, do laundry, etc. Breach of the new regulations should be punished with further denial of privilege. Therefore, you have to coordinate which privileges are denied initially. You don't want to remove all sticks and carrots from the equation.
After that, don't pull your punches and call her bluffs. 15 year old girls know that you love them and that it is a vulnerability. That, in connection with their messed up mind, flush with with hormones, will emotionally allow them to callously put the screws to you without remorse.
If you think about it, allowing a young girl smoke without doing everything that can be done to keep her from getting addicted, is negligent. Your actions will affect her whole life, and maybe even how and when she dies. She is in your care and you are the parent responsible for guiding her into adulthood and making good choices.
Maybe you should quit too! Talk to your doctor, there are medications that you can take to cut your addiction. Then spend the thousands of dollars you won't burn up and do something with your daughter. You might even live to see your grand-children grow up.
But that's just my opinion.

This is the hardest question smoking parents have to face today. And I know you want her to quit, we all do. Hoever, its time now to lay down some serious rules. She is adopting an adult lifestyle because sees becomming an adult. The rules I am about to give you have helped many of my friends. First, let her be open and honest about her smoking and tell her that you would like her to do chores around the house and with the money she makes, you will buy her her cigarettes. this way, you will keep tabs on her smoking and she will understand the costs of it. Second, Tell her she can not carry them with her in public or school. She can not have friends over to the house to smoke. She must keep her ash trays clean and do not leave empty packs around. Just love her anf be her pal, they grow up so fast, its all we can do.

Hi,
Great post! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and I thought I wasn't addicted!
Here's what I tried before finding success: hypnosis, those fake cigaretts, the nicotine patch, and group therapy....none worked.
I finally tried this HERBAL patch I bought 6 months ago on the net. They claim a 97% success rate. Well, it worked! They had a sweet deal which was a free 10 day trial for only $3.95 including shipping (it's regularly $53 for 10 days)!!
I don't know if they still have that deal, but it's worth a try.

Smoking is a bad habbit. Try both of you to help each other to quit smoking. No point you asking your daughter to stop smoking when you practice smoking

Quit together. The benefits of quitting are so good for your health. Be accountability partners for each other. It will help your daughter quit smoking, and you will be healthier for it too. Kids model their parents. Give her a reason to quit by quitting too. :)

Umm, she's following your example. Quit together, encourage each other, and offer some type of reward after a six-month period away from smoking.

you have to tell her it's unhealthy even though she already knows, if you really want her to stop you got to stop to, it's unfair to tell someone they can't eat cake when ur eating it right. I know it's alot harder for you than her cuz u have been smoking longer but in the long term it is better for the both of you, my grandma quit after 44 years of smoking.

Why are you smoking? You set such a bad example for ur daughter. What u should do is tell her how bad it is for her and then you should both try to quit together.

you should try to both quiot together. the health stuff doesn't even affect teenagers after they have heard it so much, try telling her how bad it makes your breth smell, how gross your hair and nails get, how your teeth turn yellow, and all that other nasty stuff. it also makes it harder to breath so if she is in sports she will have a difficult time!!!! you need to come to her level, and I know this is hard to consider but if u quit with her she is WAY more likely to quit! you both will be healthier! good luck!
